The blog updates are getting a little less frequent as I have gone back to work full time at the beginning of June, and well...it's just impossible to find any time. But here's a few updates...AlexAlex is definitely entertaining...as he manages to both impress us with his abilities, while at the same time frustrates us with his random behavior (sometimes he's just adorable and sweet, while at other times he sounds more like a teenager with his attitude and talking back :-( Here are a few quotable examples...- When he does something nice and you'll tell him "thank you Alex", his response a lot of times is..."Just doing my job"
- When Jeff and I are having a conversation and Alex wants to say something, he will say: "Excuse me mommy, can I say something?"
- Or the other day..."Thanks mommy for the delicious dinner, it was really yummy"
- When Jeff asks him whether he will be ok losing to him playing Crazy 8's, Alex's recent response was an enthusiastic: "Not Today Old Man!" (I don't know where he learns these phrases, but it's hilarious nonetheless)
The other day Alex and I had a serious conversation about why our Dog died and what happened to him. A few days later, Alex said that he wanted to die so that he could be in heaven with our dog because he misses him so much. I didn't think that I would be having these type of conversations so early. Jeff will definitely be in charge of the birds and the bees conversation!
I'm super excited that Alex inherited my directional abilities...He can go to a place once and know exactly how to get there again or instruct you on how to drive there...This is as opposed to poor Jeff that has been somewhere a few times before, and doesn't have the foggiest idea on how to get there again or how one location relates to another.
At Alex's recent dental cleaning, the dentist mentioned that we should not be surprised if Alex loses his first few baby teeth within the next 6 months. He just happens to be one of the kids that lose their baby teeth early. WOW...my baby is starting to really grew up!
Matthew
Matthew unfortunately had another seizure back on Memorial Day...this time it lasted twice as long as the previous 5. We've seen a pediatric Neurologist at Texas Children's Hospital and seem pretty convinced that these seizures are complex febrile seizures and we will have another follow-up in a few months. Since his behavior and development are at or above average, there are no indicators to think otherwise at this time.
Matthew is both extremely verbal and basically "our little troublemaker"...He manages to climb just about anything (such as using the drawer knobs as a ladder to climb the dresser" - we had to remove the knobs for his safety) and figures out how to defeat pretty much any child proofing device we have. Unfortunately, he's bitten little Zachary a few times, but read Zach's update...we're beginning to understand a little more why this is happening.
One funny story...the other day after I already left for work, Jeff had Alex and Zach already in the car ready to go to school and Matthew was still in the house...but wait, Jeff couldn't get back in to get him...Matthew managed to lock Jeff out of the garage and Jeff didn't have a key to the house. Fortunately, Jeff was able to talk Matthew into unlocking the door...again "our little troublemaker"!
Although Matthew seems like the "tough" one...he's actually the most sensitive of all 3 boys...You can just give him a funny look and he will start crying!
He pretty much repeats everything and is developing quite a vocabulary. Here's a few of the distinguishable words...baaanana (and he acutally says it like this...baaaa nana), bus, turtle, puppy, mommie, daaaaddie, Alec (for Alex), waty (for water), cars, bye-bye
Zachary
Zachary has been our sweetie most of the time. He is a great sleeper and seems content to play with just about anything. Although skinnier, he's actually probably the best eater right now. I really don't know where all the food goes. His vocabulary is just as good as Matthew's and he pretty much understands everything we tell him. And the twins seem to really understand each other as they acknowledge each other in conversations.
Zach will give the sweetest kisses on your cheek that really make your heart melt. And it's really adorable when Zach tries to give either Alex or Matthew hugs.
Although he was picked on by Matthew when they were smaller...Zach has actually become the aggressor recently in most of the biting situations. Little Zach will either push Matthew (and I mean either aggressive shove or completely tackle him) or take a toy away, and Matthew will sometime respond by biting.
Zach can actually be somewhat bossy...If you don't give him what he wants, he will physically try to pull you to the place where the thing that he wants is located or throw a complete tantrum. For example...Jeff is sitting on the couch and Zach wants a cookie from the pantry...Zach will pull on Jeff's shorts and make him get up and then actually drag him to the pantry.
Zach is very attached to his blanket and will frequently drag it around the entire house. It's pretty adorable to watch. He's also very attached to his pacifier...I think we will have a much harder time trying to break him of this habit.
I will try to get some pictures in the next post...we have really slacked off recently on the picture taking.
